Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General is seeking a Part-time Patient Safety Assistant (0.6 FTE, 24 hrs/week) to provide direct observation and ensure patient safety. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring infection control practices, and remaining at the patient’s bedside to safeguard wellbeing.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, ability to communicate in English, and CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English.
• CPR for Healthcare Providers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision/line of sight to patients with safety concerns.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, feeding, etc.).
• Uses appropriate resources for patients with special needs such as language barriers, sensory problems, altered cognition, cultural and religious needs.
• Integrates infection control and prevention into practice.
• Stays at the patient’s bedside and maintains direct line of vision at all times.
