Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General is seeking a Patient Safety Assistant to provide direct supervision for patients needing safety oversight. You will stay at the bedside, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Responsibilities include ensuring infection control, communicating with the RN and interdisciplinary team, documenting patient behaviors, and serving as a mentor for new staff. An equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Complete on-the-job orientation and training as scheduled.
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision to patients requiring safety oversight.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, feeding, etc.).
• Supports patients with language, cognitive, sensory, cultural needs and infection control.
• Maintains infection prevention practices and standard precautions.
• Stays at bedside in direct line of vision and communicates with the RN as needed.
• Documents patient behaviors and interventions in the medical record or paper records.
