Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General is seeking a Part-Time Patient Safety Assistant to provide direct supervision for patients requiring safety oversight, assist with activities of daily living, and maintain a safe, respectful bedside environment.

You will stay at the patient's bedside, escort patients, read to them, document behaviors in the chart, and collaborate with the RN and care team to ensure quality care and compliance with infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare provider CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision/line of sight to patients with safety concerns.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, feeding, etc.).
• Uses infection control principles and standard precautions in practice.
• Stays at the patient’s bedside and maintains direct line of vision at all times.
• Escorts and assists patients with ambulatory/bathroom privileges and stays with the patient.
• Documents patient behaviors and interventions in the chart.
• Interacts with patients to provide diversionary activities and monitors safety.
