Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a PT Outbound Freight Handler in Mt. Crawford, VA for the second shift. You will load and unload freight, prepare trailers, and use forklift and dock equipment to move shipments safely.

You will weigh and dimension shipments, verify paperwork, check hazardous material details, and ensure proper blocking and bracing to prevent shifting during transport. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, with background check and drug test required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a background check and an alcohol and drug test.
• Forklift Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading.
• Use proper lifting techniques and equipment to move freight.
• Weigh and dimension shipments for proper rating and handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading.
• Count and inspect freight for shortages or damage; document findings.
• Review freight bills and manifests for instructions and discrepancies.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when needed.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
