Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a part-time Outbound Freight Handler in the United States (Waynesboro, VA area) to load and unload freight, inspect trailers, and ensure safe handling. The role emphasizes proper lifting, equipment use, and compliance with freight bills and hazardous materials requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, pass a background check and drug screen, and preferably bring forklift operating experience and a forklift certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Must pass background check and drug test.
• Prior forklift operator, dock/warehouse or material handler experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off equipment; assist in recouping damaged freight.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading freight.
• Use safe lifting techniques to load and unload freight.
• Select and use appropriate freight handling equipment.
• Weigh and dimension shipments for proper classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count, inspect and document shortages or damage to freight.
• Review freight bills for special instructions and check labels against bills.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding where required.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
