Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines in Roanoke, VA is seeking a PT Outbound Freight Handler to load and unload freight and assist with freight handling tasks. You will prepare and inspect trailers, use safe lifting techniques, and operate equipment such as forklifts with appropriate safety measures. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED.

A background check and alcohol/drug test are required. Prior forklift/Dock or Warehouse experience and forklift certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers.
• Weigh and dimension shipments for proper classification.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading.
• Check freight bills and manifests for instructions and discrepancies.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when required.
