Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a PT Outbound Freight Handler in Alabama. The role involves loading and unloading freight, inspecting trailers, and ensuring safe handling and proper staging of shipments.

You should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to pass a background check and drug test. Prior forklift or warehouse experience and forklift certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass a background check and an alcohol and drug test.
• Prior experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailer before loading freight.
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Review freight bills and manifests for instructions and exceptions.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when loading hazardous material.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
