Job summary

LensCrafters in Champaign, IL seeks a Part-Time Optometric Technician to support eye exams and patient flow. You will assist with patient care, conduct pre-exam testing, and help the optometrist deliver high-quality vision care.

The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, utilization of optical equipment, and friendly patient service, with weekend/evening shifts to fit store needs. Prior optometry experience preferred; HS diploma required; compensation ranges per posted pay.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams and manages patient records.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist for vision examinations including visual acuity, depth and color perception, retinal imaging.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully and consults with Optometrist or Practice Manager when necessary.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care, trial inventory and patient orders.
• Operates appointment book and POS system, creates and tends sales transactions when required.
• Maintains a safe working environment and ensures HIPAA-compliant record filing.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Practice Manager or business needs.
• Works weekends and evenings to support business needs.
