Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited school or college of optometry.
• Active, unrestricted North Carolina optometry license or eligibility to obtain North Carolina licensure prior to start.
• Clinical optometry experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision examinations for adult and pediatric resident populations.
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and prescribe or fit corrective lenses and treatment as clinically indicated.
• Adapt examination technique and pacing for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
• Coordinate in real time with facility staff and nursing/medical staff on resident eye-care plans.
• Provide written clinical findings and recommendations to facility medical staff on the day of the clinic.
• Refer to ophthalmology or specialty care when clinically indicated and record the reason for referral.
