The optometrist conducts comprehensive exams for adults and children, collaborates with facility staff, and documents findings the same day. Flexible, multi-site coverage is possible with predictable clinic days.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school.
• Active, unrestricted North Carolina optometry license or eligibility prior to start.
• Clear background screening and vaccination requirements.
• Experience delivering optometry care to vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision examinations for adult and pediatric residents.
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions and prescribe lenses or treatments as indicated.
• Adapt examination pacing for residents with developmental disabilities.
• Coordinate with facility staff for resident eye-care plans in real time.
• Provide written findings and recommendations the same day.
• Refer to ophthalmology when clinically indicated and document reasons.
