Job summary

Veterans Moving Forward, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support our nonprofit finance team. The role offers flexibility and a mission-driven environment focused on veterans and service dogs.

You will handle ledgers, payroll, bank reporting, and monthly statements, contributing to accurate financial health and compliance. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in accounting, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Excel and QuickBooks.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in AP/AR, GL, payroll.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Data entry and record keeping experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Fluent in QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Balance and maintain accurate ledgers and bank accounts.
• Coordinate deposits and report financial results to management.
• Monitor office expenses and enter cash receipts.
• Pay vendor invoices and track bank balances.
• Develop monthly financial statements (Statement of Activities, Statement of Financial Position, P&L).
• Process payroll and track payroll data.
• Assist with tax payments and returns.
• Assist with charitable state registrations.
• Record financial transactions and reconcile bank statements.
• Work with Senior Staff and other vendors as needed.
