Job summary

The New York Historical is seeking part-time Visitor Services Associates for its Visitor Services department. The position staffs admissions and membership desk, coat check, auditorium, switchboard and call center.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• 1 year customer service/cashier experience, preferably in a museum/arts setting.
• High level of verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with customers, coworkers and vendors in a personable and engaging manner.

Responsibilities

• Sells museum admissions and memberships to visitors;
• Accurately maintains a cash drawer during their shift;
• Assists and answers questions from visitors;
• Helps explain and enforce health and safety procedures;
• Attends and operates the coat room;
• Processes visiting guests who have meetings with staff;
• Answers the main switchboard phone and accurately transfers calls;
• Distributes assistive listening devices and other exhibition aids related to ADA accessibility;
• Additional duties as requested.
