Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an MRI Technologist for a part-time, 20-hour-per-week role in the Grafton MRI department. The incumbent will operate MR equipment, obtain patient history, administer contrast, and ensure image quality with attention to safety standards.

This role requires ARRT/MR/RT credentials and BLS within specified timelines. Hours include one weekday, every other week, and every Sunday, with 10–12 hour shifts; start times may be adjusted.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and magnetic safety.
• Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Certification Addendum
• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g., DN V, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Operates MR equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures (MSK, neuro, orthopedics).
• Obtain medical history and verify orders; administer contrast under Radiologist guidance.
• Position patient, adjust scanning factors, and ensure safety measures.
• Post-processes images and labels files with patient identifiers.
• Enter patient and study data into RIS and document billing codes.
• Identify equipment issues and perform QA tests; evaluate new products.
• Assist with patient positioning and transfers; adhere to safety protocols.
• Provide age-appropriate care following department policies.
