Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist for a part-time day shift in Illinois. This role offers up to 20 hours per week with early morning start times and rotating weekends/holidays.

You will perform and review tests, manage workflow, and ensure timely reporting of results in a high-quality laboratory setting. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's or Associate degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and MT/MLS certification within 1 year.

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols.
• Monitors workflow and adjusts to complete work in a timely manner.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.
• Follows policy in reporting and notifying test results.
• Performs, documents and reviews calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Provides training and support to technicians, phlebotomists, and staff.
