Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist for the IL Central Lab: Core Lab in Rosemont. The role involves performing and supervising laboratory tests, ensuring quality control, and maintaining instruments. Expect rotating weekends/holidays with a 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Applicants should hold ASCP or AMT certification within 1 year, and have a Clinical Laboratory Sciences degree. Benefits include extensive health plans and education support.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized; adjusts workflow to complete work on time.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and notifies results per policy.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments; identifies malfunctions and corrects them.
• Performs quality control and assurance, and takes corrective actions as needed.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients per protocol.
• Provides training and supervision to medical staff and students as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements in an acute setting.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports various specialty testing areas.
