Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Richmond Health Source facility. The MLS will perform routine testing on blood and tissue specimens and provide physicians with accurate results using clinical lab instruments.

Requires a BS in CLS/MLS or related field per CLIA, MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred). Externship is preferred; duties include quality control, safety, and cooperation with staff.

Qualifications

• B.S. in CLS/MLS/biomedical sciences per CLIA approved program.
• MLS certification or eligible (ASCP preferred).
• Externship completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by inspection or recognizing abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors that affect measurements and acts per protocols.
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results release.
• Maintains a safe work environment and troubleshoots equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
