Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at the Richmond Health Source Shared Services facility. The MLS will perform routine tests on blood and tissue specimens, delivering quality results to physicians while upholding patient safety and anonymity.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science (or CLIA-approved program) and MLS certification eligibility (ASCP preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related CLIA-approved program (required)
• MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a recognized agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
• Externship program completed (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner per procedures
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and takes action per protocols
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by equipment checks and proper housekeeping
