Job summary

SpartanNash in Granger, Indiana is seeking a part-time Meat Cutter to properly cut all types of meats and prepare products following company standards. You will weigh, wrap, price and merchandise items, while maintaining a clean, safe and customer-friendly department.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of retail or related experience; prior meat-cutting experience is strongly preferred. Ability to read and write, basic math, and suggestive selling are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior meat cutter/apprentice experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills needed.
• Suggestive selling and knowledge of products beneficial.
• Detail oriented and accurate in handling products.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh meats (steaks, chops, etc.) for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim, bone carcass sections to cooking cuts; grind and tray meats; make sausages.
• Price, date, wrap, and bag meat products per guidelines.
• Rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays; notify manager for orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the department; follow PPE standards.
