Job summary

Theuniversityunion in Raleigh is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas under the supervision of the Aquatics Director.

Responsibilities include supervising the pool, responding to emergencies, and maintaining safety procedures in line with YMCA policies. The role requires current lifeguard certification and strong communication within a diverse community of members and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Certifications include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Maintain certification readiness.
• Lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
• Respond to emergencies per YMCA procedures and document as required.
• Foster positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
• Apply pool safety rules and maintain records as required by YMCA/Health Dept.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and communicate clearly within area of responsibility.
