Job summary

The Lifeguard at Foundation YMCA of Wilson in Wilson, NC, works part-time to ensure the safety of all patrons around the aquatic facility. The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, enforcing rules, administering CPR/AED and first aid when needed, and assisting with opening/closing procedures while upholding YMCA safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Strong observational and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergencies.
• Prior lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool activities and enforce safety rules.
• Respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
• Administer first aid, CPR, or AED as needed.
• Keep pool deck clean and safe.
• Inspect safety equipment.
• Participate in drills and in-service training.
• Provide customer service with a positive attitude.
• Complete incident and accident reports promptly.
• Assist with pool opening and closing procedures.
• Follow YMCA policies on medical, disciplinary, and child safety emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
