Qualifications

• The job of Special Education Life Skills Paraeducator is to assist assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of special education students; perform classroom clerical tasks; and assist students with personal care and health-related needs, while developing academic, daily living and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work under the teacher's direction to support and reinforce lesson plans.
• Supports other personnel as needed to assist them in their work activities.
• Implements instructional behavioral programs under supervision to improve students' academic success.
• Maintains student files/records and supports data collection.
• Monitors individual students in various settings to provide a safe learning environment.
• Performs record-keeping and clerical tasks to support the teacher/administrator.
• Assists with daily living skills such as toileting, feeding, personal hygiene.
• Demonstrates flexibility with priorities and maintains deadlines and attention to detail.
