Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods.
• Safely manage physical or verbally aggressive students.
• Participate with students in physical fitness activities including walking, stretching, and aerobic exercise.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing lesson plans.
• Monitors individual students in classroom, library, playground activities, etc., for a safe and positive learning environment.
• Assist with daily living skills (toileting, feeding, personal hygiene) as needed to demonstrate skills and provide care.
• Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher and administrator.
