Qualifications

• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods
• Safely manage physical or verbally aggressive students
• Lift occasionally up to 60 lbs. to 36 inches and frequently up to 25 lbs. to 36 inches
• Walk students to bus stops in inclement weather
• May require working with bio-hazards (blood borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials)

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work under the teacher's direction to support and reinforce lessons
• Assists other personnel to support their work activities
• Implements instructional behavioral programs under supervision to improve student learning
• Maintains student files/records and data collection for reliable information
• Monitors individual students in classroom, library, and play areas for a safe learning environment
• Performs clerical tasks (scheduling, copying) to support teachers and administrators
• Assists with daily living skills (toileting, feeding, hygiene) as needed
• Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities and deadlines; requires attention to detail
• Regular attendance and on-site presence are essential
