Job summary

The Bindu Institute LLC is seeking a Life Skills Coach to support individuals with brain injury or neurological conditions in a community setting. You will provide functional supports to help clients gain independence at home and access community resources.

Key duties include advocacy, decision-support, household structure, social engagement, transportation to activities, and documentation per agency policies. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 80 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and some physical disabilities preferred.
• Must have a reliable computer or device for documentation responsibilities; experience with Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
• BS/BA in related field OR 1–2 years’ experience working with adults who are developmentally disabled or related experience preferred.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Background check and driver’s record check.
• Reside within a reasonable commute to the client.
• Must maintain the company’s required personal auto insurance and verify compliance: minimum coverage specified.
• Military background or experience with veterans and brain injury a plus.
• The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly is required.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

• Provides positive support and be an advocate for the client.
• Guides clients in identifying choices and making informed decisions regarding activities and life.
• Supports household management and establishes safe, healthy routines.
• Assists participation in recreation and community activities to promote socialization.
• Helps clients improve community living and integration skills through transportation.
• Learns how to participate in recreational and social activities in the community.
• Provides training with mobility and adaptive aids as needed.
• Develops communication and social skills with clients.
• Maintains client confidentiality per policies and HIPPA.
• Completes daily progress notes and submits documentation to supervisors.
