Job summary

The Bindu Institute, LLC in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Life Skills Coach to support individuals with brain injuries or neurological conditions at home and in the community. The role provides individualized functional supports to help clients gain independence and access community resources.

You will assist with daily living, transportation, social activities, and community participation while documenting progress and maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA/company policies.

Qualifications

• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and sometimes physical disabilities preferred.
• Must have a reliable computer or device for daily documentation; experience with Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader required.
• BS/BA in related field OR 1-2 years' experience working with adults who are developmentally disabled or related experience preferred.
• Maintain a valid driver's license.
• Background check and driver's record check.
• Reside within a reasonable commute to the client.
• Must maintain the company's required personal auto insurance with specified limits.
• Military background or experience with veterans and brain injury a plus.
• Ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly is required.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

• Provides positive support and be an advocate for the client.
• Provides assistance and guidance with identifying choices and making informed decisions involving the client's activities and life.
• Provides structure and support in household management and routines.
• Assists with participation in recreation and community activities to promote socialization.
• Assists client with community living and integration using transportation.
• Works with clients to learn to participate in desired recreational and social activities.
• Provide training or assistance with mobility in home environment and usage of adaptive aids.
• Provides assistance with developing effective communication and social skills.
• Maintains organization confidentiality per policies.
• Documents progress notes and submits to supervisors and payroll portal.
• Monitors billable hours with clients.
• Performs other duties to meet program goals.
