Job summary

Manassas Park City Library in Manassas Park, VA is seeking a part-time Library Associate 2 to deliver excellent customer service and manage patron accounts, cards, and materials.

This 24-hour-per-week position supports circulation, reference assistance, programming support, and collection maintenance, with scheduling that may include evenings and weekends; prior library experience is helpful, and proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Some library experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of library systems and databases preferred.
• Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patrons, issues library cards, checks in/out materials and manages patron accounts.
• Assists patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.).
• Accepts and processes fees and other payments.
• Assists with passive programming, programming preparation, displays, and basic marketing.
• Provides information regarding programs, events, study rooms, etc.
• Shelves library materials.
