Job summary

Manassas Park City Library seeks a part-time Library Associate 2 to deliver excellent customer service at the circulation desk and to assist with collection support. The role emphasizes welcoming patrons, processing materials, and guiding users through services in a dynamic community library.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, some library experience, and basic knowledge of library systems.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required
• Some library experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of library systems and databases preferred
• Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends
• Excellent customer service skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• English/Spanish speaking is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service by welcoming patrons, issuing library cards, checking in/out materials and managing patron accounts
• Assists patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures
• Accepts and processes fees and other payments
• Assists with passive programming, programming preparation, displays, and basic marketing
• Provides information regarding programs, events, study rooms, etc.
• Shelves library materials
• Addresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management
• Follows all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
• Assists with collection management including processing new materials, donated materials, damaged items, etc.
• May assist with processing of InterLibrary Loans or other specialized tasks
• Other duties as assigned
