Job summary

The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College is seeking a part-time library assistant for the Jeanette Albiez Davis Library on the main campus in Rio Grande, Ohio. The role involves 4-8 hour shifts during library open hours, with some evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will deliver and supervise high-quality customer service at in-person and online contact points, assist patrons with locating print and electronic resources, and support the library’s services for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of the research process.
• Experience with library/information resources and search tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic computer problems.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential information (understands and applies university and library policies and procedures).
• Ability to oversee the security of the building’s resources and occupants (manages library’s opening and closing procedures and addresses patron complaints and problem behavior).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Service oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
• Some previous library experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise high quality customer service at various contact points (in person or online via email or chat).
• Help patrons find and use print or electronic resources to fulfill information needs.
• Work with students, faculty, staff, and community members visiting and using the library and its services.
