Job summary

Riverdale Public Library is seeking a friendly Library Assistant to provide excellent customer service and support daily library operations. Responsibilities include circulation, inquiries, and helping patrons navigate catalogs, databases, and the website.

The role also involves assisting with program planning, maintaining content on the library site, and creating promotional materials and social media updates to highlight library services and events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Check out and check in library materials.
• Answer patron inquiries by phone, email, or in person.
• Perform library opening and closing procedures.
• Assist patrons with locating information and resources using the library catalog, website, and databases.
• Keep the library, circulation desk, and workroom neat and tidy.
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of programs and events for adult patrons.
• Maintain and update library website to ensure accurate, current, and engaging content.
• Create promotional materials and social media content to promote library programs, events, services, resources, and news, and manage the library’s social media accounts
