Job summary

Roanoke County Public Library is seeking a part-time staff member to support public services and patron assistance. You will handle circulation tasks, assist with computer use, and contribute to programming and outreach.

The role requires a high school diploma with college courses and friendly customer service skills; weekend/evening shifts may be needed, with occasional outreach driving responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with college level courses.
• Some customer service experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and have a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with library services and materials.
• Provide circulation services including registering borrowers and handling fines.
• Manage public computer usage and assist with equipment.
• Deliver reader’s advisory and reference services to patrons.
• Train and supervise volunteers as needed.
• Assist with library programming and outreach events.
• Enter item records in catalog and reconcile shipments with invoices.
