Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a capable Cashier/Stocker to support store operations and lead in the absence of the Store Manager. You will assist in plan-o-gram setup, stock merchandise, help customers, and uphold store standards while protecting assets.

You will handle transactions at the register, ensure accuracy of totals, and help maintain a safe, clean shopping environment. A friendly, team-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math operations for sales transactions and discounts.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including accountability and deposits.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions.
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety policies and practices.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock and rotate merchandise; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Help customers locate items and provide assistance.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety, including trash and restrooms.
• Operate cash register; total purchases and bag items.
• Handle payments and make change.
• Open/close store under direction of Area Manager.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash controls.
