Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma is advantageous.
• Ability to work in a team and supervise volunteers.
• Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills to access payroll and timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen operations ensuring healthy and safe work practices.
• Prepare and cook food with volunteers for daily lunch program using various utensils and equipment.
• Work with Operations Manager to establish kitchen guidelines and food service policies.
• Establish weekly menus for daily lunch program based on inventory.
• Create an inventory system for kitchen supplies and ensure adequate stock.
• Coordinate daily food storage, preparation and serving per Health Department standards.
• Maintain a sanitary working environment in kitchen, dining room, storage, refrigerators and freezers.
• Ensure volunteers and staff maintain safe and sanitary conditions during prep, serving and storage of food.
• Prepare required statistical and financial reports (gifts in kind).
• Report maintenance issues to Corps Officers/Administrators or Operations Manager.
• Serve as the first point of contact for kitchen volunteers and assist with training scheduling.
• Driving is an essential function of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.
