Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Kitchen Manager in preparing and serving meals for clients, staff, volunteers, and Advisory Board members. The role focuses on food preparation, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining area.

Responsibilities include assisting with meal service, keeping the dining area organized, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness throughout storage and service spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Kitchen experience required.
• Lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Kitchen Manager with food preparation and meal service.
• Help keep the dining room clean, organized, and ready for guests.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen, storage areas, and food service spaces.
• Follow safe food handling, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
• Clean, sanitize, and store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain dishwashing equipment and treat with Delimer chemical twice a month.
• Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, carts, racks, and other food service equipment.
• Use cleaning tools and products appropriately to care for kitchen equipment.
• Keep supplies, cookware, dishes, and utensils organized and properly stored.
• Maintain beverage service equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining refrigerators, freezers, and other cold storage areas.
• Help maintain clean work surfaces and floors throughout the day.
• Communicate with food service and supply vendors as needed.
• Other related duties as required.
