Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. is hiring at the Richmond-WHITE OAK, VA store for an events/guest services role. You will plan, coordinate, and run kids parties and craft classes while helping customers find products and enjoy a fast, friendly checkout experience.

You’ll also support store recovery, merchandising, and safety standards. Responsibilities include demonstrating crafts, managing event add-ons, handling communications with clients and staff, and assisting with Omni-channel duties such as

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stress and interact with guests and coworkers.
• Excellent people skills and effective communication.
• Experience working with children and children's events is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal and nonverbal communication and listening.
• Solid organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Retail or customer service experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at Michaels stores, including kids' parties and classes.
• Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate crafts and supervise participants, including face painting and activities.
• Organize party add-ons (balloons, goody bags) per company standards.
• Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
• Handle administrative tasks such as emails, calls and paperwork.
• Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans for events.
• Ensure client satisfaction and adherence to cleanliness and safety standards.
• Set up, run, and break down events; maintain store cleanliness.
• Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production where applicable.
• Participate in daily store cleanliness and stock/merchandising duties.
