Job summary

YMCA of Montclair is seeking a Junior Coders Instructor to provide age-appropriate coding, robotics, and technology activities for children aged 4–6. The role emphasizes hands-on, play-based learning under the guidance of the Enrichment & Family Director.

Responsibilities include designing lesson plans, implementing curriculum, maintaining attendance, and reporting progress to families. This is a regular part-time position with a pay range of $17.00–$17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• CPR/AED preferred; to be completed within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within established guidelines.
• Designs age-appropriate Junior Coders lesson plans for ages 4–6.
• Teaches basic coding concepts using hands-on activities.
• Uses coding materials, games, and beginner robotics in lessons.
• Creates engaging coding challenges and encourages experimentation.
• Reports to Enrichment & Family Director on student progress and issues.
• Maintains attendance records and classroom materials.
• Promotes a safe, inclusive environment and models YMCA values.
