Job summary

The Virginia Department of Veteran Servies seeks a part-time IT Engineer to provide essential IT support for Headquarters and DVS locations in Richmond, including end-user assistance, network support, and application troubleshooting.

This role requires hands-on experience with network devices, desktop software, VOIP, wireless, and IT asset management, with strong collaboration and documentation duties.

Qualifications

• Provide first-line IT support for end users and triage IT issues.
• Resolve network and infrastructure issues to maintain operations.
• Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches and other network devices.
• Support DVS applications and standard desktop software (Adobe, Microsoft, etc.).
• Install and troubleshoot wireless access points and extenders.
• Install voice and network cabling, IPsec, and WAN/ISP solutions.
• Troubleshoot desktop/laptop hardware, software, and mobile devices.
• Support VOIP, analog, softphones, and eFax systems.
• Monitor computer systems and network performance.
• Prepare technical documentation and update system procedures.
• Communicate clearly with staff and stakeholders; coordinate with IT team.
• Track IT assets and end-user support activity in ticketing system.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT end-user support and triage IT issues.
• Assist network services and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
• Configure and maintain network devices (firewalls, routers, switches).
• Support and troubleshoot DVS applications and standard software.
• Set up wireless networks and cabling for facilities.
