Job summary

Longfellow Elementary in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Part-Time Instructional Assistant specialized for Title I & Non-Instructional support in cafeteria and/or playground. 29 hours per week, starting immediately, with a base hourly rate of $16.56.

Under direct supervision, you will support classroom teachers and interventionists in reading, writing, and math, work with students individually or in groups, and assist with translations when necessary. A ParaPro or equivalent credential is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• Pass the ParaPro Test (district-provided) as an alternative credential to meet the education requirement
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be preferred at some sites

Responsibilities

• Work in close proximity with assigned teacher and specific students
• Assist students individually or in groups to reinforce skills and supervise learning activities
• Follow a written plan to supplement classroom instruction
• Assist with classroom computer instruction
• Assist with translation when necessary
• Participate in professional development to support student achievement
• Support school improvement initiatives
• Complete training to assist in administration and scoring of assessments
• Maintain regular and on-time attendance
• Perform other related duties to ensure efficient operation of the work unit
• Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment
