Job Summary

The Front Office Receptionist is responsible for accurate and timely patient registration using medical systems. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, following established policies, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and other medical professionals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Greet patients and visitors in person or by phone, answer inquiries or refer as needed.
  2. Record patient arrival in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  3. Identify patients by date of birth and name; create new accounts if necessary.
  4. Prepare patient paperwork prior to appointments.
  5. Reschedule no-show appointments, update records, and send notifications.
  6. Enhance patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments, providing comfort, and answering questions.
  7. Respond quickly to patients in distress in emergency situations.
  8. Update information in EMR, obtain updated details from patients.
  9. Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and handle prior authorization notifications.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  11. Record and collect copays and balances, ensuring revenue.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  13. Follow policies and procedures, reporting changes as needed.
  14. Contribute to team efforts and demonstrate superior customer service skills.
  15. Answer phones politely and promptly.
  16. Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
