Job summary

SpartanNash’s Nappanee, IN location is seeking a part-time Cashier to operate the cash register, assist customers, and bag purchases. You will handle cash and other payment methods, answer questions, and provide friendly service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include processing transactions, weighing and bagging items, operating POS equipment, and maintaining front-end checkout standards. Prior retail or cashier experience is preferred, with strong customer service skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handle a variety of products and process transactions accurately.
• Weigh and bag customer purchases.
• Understand use of check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, belts) and its operation.
• Perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items and keeping area tidy.
• Communicate store programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers; model high standards of service.
• Follow company policies regarding security, cash handling, returns, alcohol and tobacco sales, etc.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• May assist with stocking items and other departments as needed.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines and guest experience standards.
