Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non‑Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication OR the equivalent; OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students in lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and effective study skills; refer to support services as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on inquiries and assessments.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and course outcomes; submit data timely.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials and order resources to ensure timely delivery.
• Revise and update course content in line with new theory and industry developments.
• Update syllabi and collaborate to assess measurable student performance indicators.
• May participate in curriculum development, committees, articulation, and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others and perform related duties.

Education
