Job summary

The Salvation Army in California is seeking a dedicated janitor to perform daily cleaning and general maintenance at assigned facilities, including offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry.

Responsibilities include vehicle fleet and grounds upkeep, room setup for programs, inventory management, safety checks, and assisting with seasonal drives and events; require high school diploma and ServSafe certification, valid CA driver's license, and ability to pass background

Qualifications

• Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level.
• Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred.
• High degree of confidentiality.
• Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the family services and corps buildings including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry
• Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle fleet
• Maintain cleanliness of parking lot, lawns and walkways
• Conduct minor facility and equipment repairs
• Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
• Setup and prepare rooms for program usage
• Transport food donations and equipment/supplies as assigned
• Assist with monthly and quarterly safety checks
• Assist with seasonal projects including but not limited to food drives, toy drives, Red Kettles
• Other duties as assigned
