Job summary

Ventura County Community College District is accepting applications for an on-going pool of part‑time instructors in counseling across Oxnard, Moorpark and Ventura campuses. Applications remain on file for Summer 2026, Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 semesters.

Provide comprehensive counseling, assist in educational planning and help students prepare for the labor market through internships and employment opportunities. Experience with EOPS and equity-focused outreach is valued.

Qualifications

Master's degree in counseling or related field OR equivalent.
California Community College Credential or equivalent; and EOPS counselors hired after Oct 24, 1987 must meet additional unit requirements.
Equivalency process may be used if degree titles do not exactly match minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive academic, personal and vocational counseling to students and assist in educational planning.
Refer students to support services and monitor academic progress; counsel on probation.
Develop student plans for entering the labor market and opportunities for internships and employment.
Counsel on career choices, matriculation processes, and program requirements at other colleges.
Assist in outreach to recruit eligible students and facilitate enrollment.
Conduct orientations to explain college programs, policies, and financial aid processes.
Maintain records of counseling sessions and prepare reports on program operations.
Assist in publishing counseling-related materials and presenting workshops for targeted populations.
Advocate for students with special needs and collaborate with instructors and other resources.
