Job summary

The Ventura County Community College District is accepting applications on an on-going basis for future consideration for part-time instructors in this discipline at any of our three colleges (Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura).

Applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters and may be considered if a vacancy becomes available within the academic year.

Qualifications

• Master’s in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography or paleontology
• Bachelor’s in geology AND Master’s in geography, physics, or geochemistry OR the equivalent
• A valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline
• All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and support services.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment and progress; submit related reports timely.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials and ensure timely delivery.
• Revise and update course content to align with new developments.
• Update syllabi and collaborate to assess measurable outcomes.
• May participate in curriculum development and attend meetings.
• May participate in articulation and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others.
