Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in North Carolina. This part-time role (Tue, Wed, Thu 8:00am-3:00pm) supports individuals with IDD in daily living tasks and community-based activities, while providing on-the-job training and transition to employment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with individuals with developmental and other disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of labor market and community services agencies; skills in writing task analyses, systemic job training, counseling, advocacy, and supported employment preferred.
• Must be comfortable with a fast-paced work environment to meet program expectations.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license, clean driving record, and current insurance required.
• Must have reliable transportation for occasional travel throughout the program territory.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals during Job Club activities, volunteerism, and job shadowing.
• Accompany supported individuals to their community-based site to provide on-the-job training.
• Analyze job duties and complete a thorough job task analysis.
• Assist individuals in mastering skills and meeting production standards, fading support as appropriate.
• Assist in performing an individual’s job duties to maintain production and model work behavior.
• Provide supplemental evaluation, work development, and intensive training activities according to service plan and work schedule.
• Support individuals at learning and increasing skills in independence including self-help, living, and accessing community resources.
• Participate in program activities while ensuring safety, hygiene, and nutritional needs are met; assist with lifting and transfers.
• Vehicle Driver/Vehicle Monitor duties may be required.
