Job summary

NANA Village Office in Alaska seeks a digital navigator to assist community members with access to affordable internet, devices, and digital skills. This role supports individuals and small groups and may involve in-person or remote communication methods.

The position is part-time, averaging 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, based at the NANA Village Office. Applicants should have basic tech proficiency and strong communication skills to serve Alaska Native communities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of customer service, administrative support, community outreach, technology support, or related experience; volunteer experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet navigation, and ability to learn new software quickly.

Responsibilities

• Initiate interactions with clients seeking assistance.
• Discuss with each client their home internet access or need for home internet access, technology experiences, and their access to and use of devices.
• Assess clients’ access to technology, current digital skill level, connectivity needs, and internet use priorities; set agreed goals for digital navigator services.
• Advise clients about free or low-cost home internet service options and assist with applications for services.
• Provide information about sources of low-cost computers or devices and assist with acquiring and maintaining them.
• Coach clients to use their home internet services to meet their priorities and goals, including in-person, phone, or online interactions.
• Track progress and maintain records; report outcomes.
• Plan and manage assistance to fulfill agreed goals for each client.
• Contribute to marketing and outreach for the digital navigator program.
• Provide occasional presentations about the program to partners and stakeholders.
• Other duties as needed.
