Stamford Health is hiring a part-time Day Shift Dialysis RN for the Inpatient Dialysis Unit. The position is 22.5 hours per week with rotating weekends and holidays, and an on-call requirement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Valid CT RN license.
• BLS certification.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum 2 years acute care dialysis experience.
• English language proficiency (reading/writing/speaking).
• Experience with adult and pediatric assessments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the preparation of the delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer and confirms that all alarm tests are performed.
• Reviews physician orders for dialysis patients, collects pre-treatment data, and reviews patient records prior to dialysis.
• Conducts pre-dialysis patient assessment including vital signs and vascular access assessment.
• Verifies prescribed medications and performs medication reconciliation.
• Documents findings and advises providers of significant changes in patient condition.
• Discusses patient concerns and answers questions relevant to care.
• Oversees dialysis technicians and monitors treatment and equipment performance.
• Assesses, cannulates vascular access and aseptic catheter care.
• Maintains sterile techniques for catheter sites and dialysis access.
• Reviews patient records for orders and administers medications per protocol.
• Conducts post-dialysis assessments and patient discharge with education.
