Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking an unlicensed assistive personnel to support RN-directed patient care. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, assist with examinations, and help ensure a safe, clean environment for patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities include basic phlebotomy as allowed, transport of patients and specimens, and early recognition of changes in patient condition for RN intervention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort under RN guidance.
• Support patients with activities of daily living and bed-making as needed.
• Safely transport patients and escorts for tests and discharge.
• Transport specimens and items across the facility.
• Perform routine tests and monitor quality control per policy.
• Provide phlebotomy services where allowed.
• Record vital signs and patient measurements per policy.
• Assist with respiratory support and oxygen setup as needed.
• Observe patient concerns and report changes to the RN immediately.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist with procedures.
• Assist with rehab activities and ambulation.
• Communicate nutrition concerns to the RN.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections.
• Keep equipment clean and report repairs promptly.
