Job summary

Grand Rapids Community College is seeking a Cyber Security Lab Assistant to support the Computer Information Systems department and the Center for Cyber Security Studies. You will build, configure, and maintain hands-on lab environments, support virtual range development, and represent the department at regional security conferences and community meetings.

Under supervision you will coordinate GRRCON, design cyber range labs, configure pfSense/Proxmox, participate in community events, and assist

Qualifications

Enrollment in CIS or related technology programs at GRCC.
Familiarity with virtual environment administration (Proxmox, VMware, or hypervisors).
Understanding of firewall, routing, and networking concepts.
Strong organizational skills for event planning and departmental coordination.

Responsibilities

GRRCON Coordination: Help manage, coordinate, and oversee the department's presence and student involvement at GRRCON.
Cyber Range Development & Maintenance: Under supervision, design, construct, and manage virtual cyber range labs for student practical exercises.
Network & Infrastructure Administration: Configure and support network configurations using systems like pfSense and Proxmox.
Community & Advisory Participation: Attend and participate in regional cybersecurity events and industry group meetings (such as MISEC).
Lab Support & Maintenance: Assist faculty with laboratory setups, general administrative tasks, and maintaining lab availability.
