Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Range Engineer to join the Range Operations team for the Persistent Cyber Training Environment. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced cyber training environments with hands-on experience across Windows and Linux systems, virtualized infrastructure, and cybersecurity tools.

The position is full-time on-site and requires DoD 8140/8570 IAT II certification, plus experience with VMware and cyber

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 6 years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience with CNO/CNE/CND platforms, cyber training, validation exercises, and CPTs.
• Current DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II Certification.
• Relevant networking, cloud/VMware, and Red Hat/Linux/Windows certifications.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and VMware in virtualized environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity, DNS, routing, and TCP/IP issues.
• Familiarity with defensive and offensive cyber tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, build, and execution of cybersecurity training, mission rehearsal, and validation events within cyber range environments.
• Build and configure cyber range content (VMs, networks, accounts/roles, tooling, exercise injects).
• Implement and operate offensive and defensive training content using red cell tools and sensors.
• Provide event support during execution windows, including readiness checks and issue resolution.
• Configure and maintain Windows and Linux hosts, apply patches, restore lab states.
• Deliver virtual infrastructure and network support (VMware, DNS, TCP/IP) and diagnose connectivity issues across range enclaves.
• Coordinate with content developers and stakeholders to capture requirements and communicate status, risks, and impacts.
• Develop technical documentation to support repeatable event delivery and knowledge transfer.
• Identify repeat issues and implement process automation or configuration updates.
