Job summary

YMCA of the Roses is seeking a Swim Team Assistant Coach for our Lancaster City Center YMCA. This part-time, weeknight role supports youth athletes, helping swimmers build skills, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a positive environment.

Under Head Coach direction, you will learn through national coaching associations, promote safety, and assist with meet setup and breakdown, contributing to a culture of inclusivity and growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• At least 1 year experience coaching similar swim teams.
• Certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid, Lifeguarding and/or Coaches Safety Certification.
• USA and YMCA coach certification within 1 month of hire.
• Must obtain state police clearance, child abuse clearance, FBI fingerprint clearance, and mandated reporter clearance.
• Complete trainings within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops, promotes, and manages the competitive swimming program in accordance with USA Swimming and YMCA standards.
• Supervises on-site facilities and equipment, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
• Maintains proper records and department files.
• Maintains supervision of swimmers and supports learning environment.
• Attends team meets and assists with setup/cleanup during home meets.
• Pursues educational opportunities through national coaching associations.
• Adheres to program standards and safety guidelines; engages with swimmers and parents.
